Maxime Hendrikse Liu

Audiobook Narrator

Portrait of Maxime Hendrikse Liu

Maxime Hendrikse Liu is a transfemme audiobook narrator who delights in using her broad vocal range, knack for accents, and emotional intelligence to bring to life characters and stories across the spectrum of human experience.

Store clerks and longtime acquaintances alike often say that Maxime’s soothing voice is perfect for NPR, guided meditation, audiobooks, or even reading from a phonebook. She would be happy to lull listeners with a litany of phone numbers, but she also mixes keen wit and energetic charm with her warm tone to deliver diverse performances across fantasy/sci-fi, romance, self-help, and more.

Maxime is most passionate about giving voice to stories that promote empathy, celebrate human connection, and empower listeners by centering marginalized identities, including queer and neurodiverse women’s stories. The daughter of Chinese and Dutch immigrants, she also learned Mandarin Chinese from an early age and is always excited about books that engage with her heritage.

Maxime is a Brown University–trained performing arts professional, and has worked as a director, fight and intimacy director, and stage manager. She is also a classically trained actor and former a cappella singer. In her free time, Maxime enjoys singing Broadway showtunes, designing and playing board games, running role-playing games for friends, and snuggling up with a speculative fiction novel.
